NOVEMBER 2022

First off, I would like to thank Debbie Flack for stepping into the breach and giving our members an excellent talk about ‘Lost Landscapes Recreated’ at our re-arranged AGM, I’m sure everyone thoroughly enjoyed her knowledge and craft of such an intricate subject.

Onto the AGM and thanks to all those people who remained after Debbie’s talk and rejoined the group, plus a welcome to some new members. Also thanks to Alan and Lynda Sloman for stepping up to join the Committee.

At the time of writing we have 27 members, down from 55 last year. This is somewhat disappointing but I hope more will rejoin (just £10) before our Christmas Social on December  02^nd. Tickets for our Christmas event are on sale from John’s card shop or from any Committee member until November 20^th as we need to know numbers for catering. Again, at the time of writing just 16 tickets have been sold!

The future of the Group still hangs in the balance, without a healthy membership it is not cost effective to run the social evenings, taking into account the cost of speakers plus the added extras of Village hall hire and refreshments.
To date we have some great speakers booked all through 2023 up until our Christmas Social, but that now depends heavily on the membership take-up.

So, if you were a member in the past, please help us by rejoining and keeping the group healthy – it would be a shame if we had to fold bearing in mind all the work that has been put into the Group by individuals in the past.
