I am pleased to say (with fingers and everything else crossed) that all being well, I am able this month to start (and hopefully finish) our monthly Report. I must mention our Editor John for his assistance and patience with my contributions in recent months, and also the Group’s Treasurer/Secretary Derek, who does a wonderful job in maintaining our Groups website –
www.marldonlocalhistorygroup.com
Derek is also responsible for getting the first “showing” of the new poster advertising the Group‘s “comeback” Open Meeting on Friday 10th September. This will also be the Group’s AGM, which, considering we have not met since Christmas 2019, should not take too long!

You may have noticed that this months edition of the Parish Magazine is larger (i.e. more pages) than usual. This is in response to the Editor’s request for as many groups and organisations as possible which use the Village Hall, to put in a short piece about their group so that all our readers will be aware of how “well off” Marldon is in this respect. Living as close to the new children’s Playground as I do, I can see (and hear) children of all ages with parents, grandparent and family members (including dogs, who do not venture on the playground itself) – enjoying themselves from dawn (almost!) to bedtime! Well done the Parish Council .
