HomeThe Parish of Marldon (2) The Parish of Marldon (2) PARISH OF MARLDON (1) – PARISH OF MARLDON (2) – THE PARISH CHURCH NOW (1) – THE PARISH CHURCH NOW (2) – COMPTON CASTLE – RESIDENTIAL MARLDON – FIELDS & COUNTRYSIDE MARLDON VILLAGE CENTRE NOW PART 1 Kiln Cross – that there was once a need for plenty of mounting blocks Five Lanes Road – a narrow but very popular link through the village connecting Torbay and Totnes Occombe House – thought to have been built around a hundred years ago, a rare glimpse, tucked away as it is, amongst the trees on Preston Down Road Old Oak Tree – a two hundred year old (perhaps more) example sited near the junction of Love Lane Close and Love Lane Butterlake – magnificent poplars at the (now private) fishing lake near Compton Parishioner’s Houses – old Almshouses (now privately owned) lie adjacent to the Parish Church Country lanes- leading from, at one time, the working limestone quarries in Kiln lane, one of which was called Knockersknowle Peace and Tranquility – out in the unspoilt countryside of Aptor Post Office- the original before the one on Marldon Cross opened, the red post box is stamped Post Office GR and is still in use today Posies Galore- primroses at their best in a near natural setting Village Residence – another of those properties which add to the ‘quaint’ appeal of the village Oak Bench – another chance to take a rest, this time on the Old Ring Road (bridleway), thanks to the efforts of Marldon Environment Group Tor Field- the refurbished steps provide an alternative to the somewhat awkward stone stile Share this:TwitterFacebookLike this:Like Loading...
