This meeting is convened to discuss significant matters that will shape the future of our group. We will be addressing the following agenda:

  1. Review of the future of the group.
  2. Appointment of Officers.
  3. Discussion on proposed amendments to the Constitution.
  4. Any other business raised by members.

Your participation is crucial to the decision-making process, and we value your input and dedication to our shared history and heritage.
We would ask you to remain for this meeting if at all possible. We look forward to your presence and contributions during the meeting.

Marldon Local History Group was founded way back in 2001 by the late Doug Pulle, along with a group of Village minded locals. When Doug Pulle became ill the late Tony Chidlow stepped up to take over the role of Chair in 2012, having served also as Secretary and Treasurer before this.
Julie and myself joined the Group in 2010 and when at the AGM in 2013 the then Chair Tony Chidlow announced that both the Secretary and Treasurer had resigned, so unless those roles could be filled by attending Members, the group would not be able to continue, Julie and I stepped forward to become Treasurer and Secretary respectively. At that time we had 111 Members.
In 2021 when Tony passed away, I reluctantly also took on the role as Chair to keep the Group going.
Now, due to other commitments, the time has finally come for both Julie and myself to step down from our roles of Chair, Treasurer and Secretary, so we are once again back in the position of requiring at least three members to step forward and join the Committee plus all the Officer roles being fulfilled. This is a requirement under Item 4 of our Group constitution:
“(4). A Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and at least three Committee Members shall be elected at each AGM to serve for one year.”We currently have a very helpful Committee, but despite recent membership recruitment drives via social media, posters and adverts, our membership stands at just 34.
The Group is financially stable, but without these three positions being filled, the Group cannot continue and it would then be our intention to put forward a proposal to ‘mothball’ it at the AGM in September, thus keeping just our archives and website in operation.

If you think you could fill one of these roles, please contact our Secretary Julie: secretary_mlhg@btinternet.com
